Inspired by the stacked timber logic of the Railway Sleepers House, this pavilion is built entirely around a large natural boulder sitting on the site. The raw stone acts as the literal and conceptual anchor for the whole design. The timber skeleton wraps around the boulder, tapering upward to form a cocoon-like envelope. Inside, the open area surrounding the rock functions as the main space—a quiet sanctuary for contemplation—while the curving inner timber walls define the circulation and entRANCE as secondary spaces. Light filters through the stacked wooden PLANKS, creating an ever-changing interplay of shadows across the central rock. Rather than imposing a rigid box onto the landscape, the structure adapts its geometry to the stone, keeping a direct, tactile connection between the raw earth and the timber framework.
